 CJ Wright is a former Collegiate Athlete who played at the Division 1 and Division 2 level. After graduation, he then went on to coach at the high school and AAU level, serving as an assistant coach for Hampton Christian Academy Boys Varsity and the Hampton Hoyas AAU Team. In his first year at Hampton Christian Academy, he was apart of helping the team reach their first state tournament appearance in several years. He later became the head coach for Train 2 Go AAU team.  CJ then went to serve as an assistant coach for Peninsula Catholic High School Boys Varsity from 2020-2025.  Upon joining the coaching staff in 2020, he helped the team reach two conference championships in 2020 and 2025.

He helped guide the team to their first state tournament appearance since 1995 in 2020. Since then, the Knights reached the state playoffs each year with his help from 2020 to 2025.  In 2025, with CJ as one of their assistant coaches, the PCHS Knights became Co-Champions in the regular season as well as reaching the State Finals for the first time since 1995. CJ now serves as the JV head coach for the PCHS Knights. 

CJ began training shortly after his college basketball career was finished. It has always been a passion and tool for him to help and mentor youth to reach their goals. Since the start of The Wright Step Forward, CJ has helped players make their middle school, high school JV/Varsity programs, as well as reach the elite prep and/or collegiate level(Division 1, 2, and 3)

On a more personal note, CJ Wright has a passion for helping, guiding, and giving youth direction towards a positive future. CJ is dedicated to becoming the best possible version of himself and hopes to influence others to do the same!
